The Cabanga Thinkership

We Do Not Have
A Readership.

A reader passes the time; a thinker makes a decision. If you are trying to reach the people who actually decide - who buy, invest, hire and partner - that is who Cabanga Africa Group publishes for. We call them a thinkership, and from a standing start, more than 15,000 of them have found us.

In short

The Cabanga thinkership is a pan-African community of business owners - people who own at least one business in more than one country.

  • Over 15,000 direct subscribers, built from zero since 2017.
  • Present in 25 African countries, and in Europe, Asia and Oceania.
  • 85% are in work; 41% hold a first degree and a further 8% a postgraduate qualification.
  • 61% carry a net worth above a million; 70% own their homes; 80% travel frequently.
  • Audience data from Cabanga Africa Group's own subscriber research.
Thinkership
noun · Cabanga Africa Group, 2017

The body of people who read in order to decide. Cabanga does not count readers, it counts thinkers - and it measures its reach by the decisions its work informs, not by the eyes that pass over a page. Zero to over 15,000 in nine years.

For The Advertiser

You Are Not Buying Readers.

Most media sells you attention and asks you to hope it converts. The thinkership is the opposite proposition. You are buying access to the people who sign the cheque, approve the supplier, choose the destination and decide where the money goes - and who do all of that across more than one country.

Look past what they read and look at what they do. They book the flights. They reserve the hotels. They choose the conference venues. They hire the vehicles, source the suppliers and move capital across borders. If you sell to a business that travels, hosts, banks, builds or moves them, you are not looking for this audience - you are looking at it.

Your next customer is not somewhere out there to be found. They are already here, reading - and the pages that follow are the proof.

01 · Who They Are

Owners, Not Onlookers

The Cabanga thinker is a pan-African business owner. Not simply an executive in one market, but the rarer and more valuable thing: someone who owns at least one business in more than one country. They hold interests across borders. They think continentally because they already trade continentally. For an advertiser that is the whole point: this is the person with the authority to say yes, not the person who carries the request upward.

85%
Are in work - founders, managing directors, technical principals, managers and consultants.
41%
Hold a first degree, with a further 8% holding a postgraduate qualification.
68%
Completed secondary education, giving a fully literate commercial readership base.

This is not an audience that happens to include business people. It is the operating layer of African commerce - the people who build, supply, move and finance things.

02 · What They Build

The Industries Behind The Names

The thinkership is drawn from the sectors that carry African trade. An advertiser buying space in a Cabanga edition is buying access to the decision-makers inside these businesses.

04 · Why It Sells

A Market In Motion

Here is the proof for the claim above. The thinkership is anchored and mobile at once - they own the property and they are rarely at home in it. Every figure below is a reason one of the advertisers named earlier is looking for exactly these people.

Assets and Standing

70%
Own their homes, and 17% of those homes sit at the top of their market.
61%
Carry a net worth above a million.
27%
Have bought a car in the last four years.

Movement and Spend

80%
Travel frequently - the single sharpest characteristic of the thinkership.
78%
Eat out well, while only half now cook at home.
75%
Buy luxury goods.
78%
Are quick and decisive buyers of everyday brands.
75%
Carry a laptop, and are split almost evenly between iPhone and Android.
60%
Buy comfort foods, a category that has grown alongside the travel figure.

This is a person out of the house, in transit and spending discretionary money away from it - reachable on the page wherever they happen to be that week. For a travel, hospitality, banking, property or automotive brand, that is not a readership statistic. It is a customer list.

Reaching Them

How To Put A Message In Front Of The Thinkership

  1. Decide which of the twelve markets you actually trade in. The thinkership is regional before it is continental, and a single edition often beats a network buy.
  2. Choose the instrument: paid space in an existing edition, or a publication of your own produced under contract.
  3. Size the unit. Space is sold at a flat rate per unit - full page, half, quarter or strip - the same in every edition.
  4. Choose position and commitment. Position loadings run from run-of-book to outside back cover; series and network discounts are alternatives, and the larger applies.
  5. Price it yourself in the quote builder, then send the booking. Material is due by the 20th of the month preceding publication.
