Munya Chimba is a trade, operations, and finance leader with two decades of experience building and running enterprises that move goods, value, and capital across African borders. His career spans corporate financial control, large-scale retail expansion, cross-border logistics, and food production — a progression from rigorous financial discipline into hands-on operational command of multi-company groups.
He began in finance, rising through Sanlam Developing Markets (a member of the Sanlam Group) from Accounts Payable Clerk to Financial Controller, where he owned divisional budgeting, expense forecasting and variance analysis, general ledger management, reconciliations, and VAT and BEE reporting. That grounding in numbers, controls, and accountability still anchors how he leads.
Over eight years with Shingai Group he ran operations for SPSK, a supplier of core Zimbabwean products into the South African retail market, then co-built African Basket — growing it from a single Midrand store to sixteen stores across three provinces. He established a state-of-the-art mill producing more than twenty tonnes of mealie meal daily, and managed procurement across Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, the DRC, Nigeria, and Mozambique, alongside border clearing, freight forwarding, and SARS compliance.
In 2022 he founded SITT Group (SITT Logistics, SITT Properties, and Home Mad’ Retail), specialising in cross-border logistics and retail-operations consulting. As Non-Executive Chairman of Cabanga Africa Group, he brings that blend of financial rigour, operational scale, and continental trade experience to the Group’s governance and strategic direction.

Dr. John Alpha is a doctoral AI researcher and software engineer with more than two decades of experience spanning media, networks, software development, product engineering, and enterprise-scale delivery. His career has carried him from online editorial and network engineering through senior product and platform roles to the leading edge of applied artificial intelligence — across telecommunications, financial services, logistics, and e-hailing.
Much of his foundation is built on structure and delivery. As a SAFe Release Train Engineer and Certified Scrum Master, he has managed enterprise-scale agile programmes and facilitated cross-functional collaboration between product, design, analytics, and engineering teams at institutions such as Absa and Vodafone. That instinct for sound process, accountability, and clear governance — making ambitious work repeatable and trustworthy — is exactly what he carries into his role as Company Secretary.
As a researcher, John is driven by the conviction that technology should empower and collaborate with people. His work focuses on Explainable AI, Human-Machine Co-creativity, Sentiment Analysis, and Ethical AI — systems that are not only advanced, but transparent, interpretable, and aligned with human values. That same commitment to fairness and accountability informs how he approaches governance at Cabanga Africa Group.
